Orlando Medical City: UCF College Of Medicine Achieves Full Accreditation

This is extremely exciting news for UCF’s new College of Medicine in Orlando’s Medical City as well as the Lake Nona area as a whole! The local press has been full of coverage surrounding the UCF College of Medicine achieving Full Accreditation for it’s program.

As reported by UCF Today, four years ago there were 41 students who took a chance on the UCF Medical School. They were the first class in US Medical School history where every student received a full scholarship. These enrolled students didn’t know whether all their efforts would pay off studying at the new school as it wasn’t until a few months before graduating they found out that the college would earn the full accreditation necessary for them to advance to their residencies and begin pursuing careers as doctors.

Now, The UCF College of Medicine has earned full accreditation following a rigorous, independent review of its educational program. The college of medicine was founded back in 2009 and was housed in temporary facilities near the main UCF campus. In 2010 they moved into the new $65 million 170,000 square foot medical education building in Lake Nona.

This latest news puts Lake Nona and UCF’s Medical School on the education map. It is expected that the UCF medical School and others in Medical City will create 30,000 jobs for Orlando and have an annual economic impact on the area of $7.6 billion by the end of 2017. This shows how important Lake Nona and Orlando’s Medical city is to Central Florida and how it is truly an area on the grow!
